Introduction
After consultation with the local community we applied to the National Lottery Charities Board (now the Community Fund) to fill the gap in learning and training provision on the island, especially in the areas of traditional textile skills, business and information technology.
We received funding of £160,000 for a three-year programme to explore the possibilities of improving employment opportunities and employability of people on the island.
Here is the report on Project Orchil which was completed in October 2000. The work continues in our training programme and in our Marketing Development Programme.
